Impact of Agricultural Insurance on the Sericulture Industry under the Perspective of Rural Revitalization: A Case Study of Prefecture-level Cities in Guangxi

Abstract: Sericulture industry is a characteristic industry in Guangxi, and the risk it faces is greater relatively to other agriculture, but agricultural insurance can effectively reduce the adverse impact of sericulture industry, and the insurance is an important driving force for rural revitalization in Guangxi. On this basis, the relevant data of 12 prefecture-level cities in Guangxi from 2008 to 2021 are used to construct sericulture industry development level indicators and examine the impact of agricultural insurance on the development of sericulture industry in Guangxi. The results found that agricultural insurance has a significant role in promoting the development of sericulture industry in Guangxi; both in the central and western regions of Guangxi and in the eastern regions, the agricultural insurance has a promotional role in the development of sericulture industry, but the former is significant while the latter is not; and the mechanism test found that agricultural insurance can promote the development of sericulture industry through the progress of agricultural technology. Based on the findings of the study, it is proposed to establish a perfect agricultural insurance protection system, innovate the regional characteristics of sericulture insurance and give full play to the technological advantages brought by the progress of agricultural technology and other policy recommendations.
