Shui People’s Common Law and Its Function of Preventing Crime

Abstract: The Shui people are mainly distributed in Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangxi and Jiangxi, most of which have been assimilation by Han people, but some of them still have such characteristic common law as the thief should be published to “chi lang”. Worship of nature, maintaining the geomagnetic, fight against fires to maintain the village safety, gods judgment and village people’s mutual help are some of their unique principles used to settle the dispute. Common laws guarantee the order of the Shui people, and the Common laws have the functions of preventing crime. Therefore, we should carry forward the good aquarium customary law and put its function into full use for social governance.
