Investigation on Shrine Establishment Ritual of Zhengyi among People in Northeast Yunnan

Abstract: Daoism in northeast Yunnan has a long history. Since Ming and Qin dynasty,different schools of Zhengyi Daoism have absorbed and been integrated with Buddhism and Confucianism,which formed the unique local folk Zhengyi.After the reform, local Daoism revived?and?believers tried to get blessing through shrine establishment ritual. The process came in three steps: day choosing, shrine establishment, and séance, which showed the orthodox elements of Daoism and local characteristics.
