Abstract: The orally transmitted ancient Yi songs popular in the Wumeng Mountains are carried by the customary rituals of marriage and funeral, spread and perpetuated by the rituals of life, and have a fixed format to support their special style. They have a spiritual entertainment function accepted by the whole ration, and a quasi-educational function of spreading knowledge and moral education, creating a once brilliant and unique ancient poetic art, which is considered a masterpiece of intangible cultural heritage.
