Exploration of Curriculum Reform in Teacher Education Based on Professional Standards for Teachers

Abstract: Professional Standards for Middle School Teachers(Pilot Edition) (shorten as Professional Standards) is a fundamental and professional requirement for qualified middle school teachers; it is a basic norm for middle school teachers to carry out educational and teaching activities; it is a primary principle in guiding teachers' professional development; it is a significant criterion in cultivating, admitting, training, and evaluating middle school teachers. As major courses on teaching and educational theory in normal universities, psychology, pedagogy and teachers' professional development course have established themselves not only as pivotal positions in teachers' professional development, but also a platform on which Professional Standards are implemented. Guided by Professional Standards, the teaching reform of common courses education, with reading educational masterpieces, studying educational narrative research, watching teaching process and learning and doing role-play being its measures, has obtained achievements through practice and exploration.
