Abstract: Since Creative Writing was established as a secondary discipline, controversy over its role as a “catalyst” has continued to intensify. Nevertheless, existing discussions mostly concentrate on its industrial buffering function, neglecting writers' dilemma of narrow-mindedness within institutionalized channels, where they are confined to in-rule competition and cannot reach beyond boundaries. A self-media “grumble” voiced by a disciplinary practitioner with an outsider perspective stands as a typical embodiment of this dilemma. The profound value of Creative Writing lies not in serving as a buffer, but in guiding writers to understand rules so as to enter institutional channels, reflect on rules to avoid being confined by channel logic, and transcend rules through the unity of affinity between spiritual connotation and sensuous form, thereby attaining self-affirmation and evolving into critical creators engaged in free practice. The core mission of the discipline is not to generate “visible” works, but to preserve people's capacity to confirm selfhood through writing.
