Abstract: The adaptation characteristics and survival strategies of plants to the environment on the correlation of quantitative biomass in the extreme environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is firstly explored to fill the gap in the study of the correlation of plant quantitative characteristics and growth. Meanwhile, the theoretical basis and decision-making reference for biodiversity conservation in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is provided. The correlation among plant height, leaf number and flower number of Stellera chamaejasme was studied by means of field investigation and statistical analysis. The results showed that plant height had a significant positive effect on the leaf and flower number, and the degree of influence was moderate, and so did the leaf number on the flower number. Plant height is related to flower number through the intermediary effect of leaf number. The plant height, leaf number and flower number of Stellera chamaejasme are closely related as the adaptation feature and survival strategy of Stellera chamaejasme under extreme environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Based on the above, some suggestions for biodiversity conservation in Qinghai- Tibet Plateau are made.

Key words: Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Stellera chamaejasme, quantitative biomass, survival strategy
