Abstract: Chant of Flying Flowers is an outstanding romantic novel in the Ming and Qing dynasties without paying due attention since its publication. Although some scholars have paid attention to it, there are still many problems worthy of discussion and research. The successful portrayal of Rong Gu in this novel is mainly reflected in the unity of beauty and talent and morality. The love is the concept of "starting from emotion and ending with courtesy and righteousness", and the marriage is the concept of only talking about talent and beauty, not paying attention to money and family status. From the character Rong Gu, the novel shows the consistency of private life with parents' orders and matchmaker's words, the advancement of monogamy concept, and the filial piety concept of the same treatment for natural love and upbringing. These concepts have great practical significance for today's society.
