JingHengyi's Calligraphy under the Influence of Cuan Bao-zi Stele

Abstract: From the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, with the great development of archaeology and epigraphy, Cuan Baozi Stele, as a representative of the southern steles, received unprecedented attention in the wave of "respecting steles and suppressing calligraphy". As a key figure connecting the preceding and the following in Xiaocuan calligraphy, calligraphy achievements and influences of Jing Hengyi have not attracted enough attention. In order to clarify Jing Hengyi's thoughts and practices of Xiaocuan calligraphy, the calligraphy history of Xiaocuan calligraphy is analyzed systematically through the existing literature, and the overall process of it calligraphy practice from the collection of Cuan Baozi Stele to Xiaocuan is also studied . It is believed that Jing Hengyi broadened the category of"respecting monuments" in modern calligraphy aesthetics, and his calligraphy thought and practice have great reference and enlightenment significance for the research and creation of contemporary "Ercuan" calligraphy.
