Resource Endowment, Direct Foreign Investment and Urban and Rural Income Gap:Panel Data Model Based on 12 Western Provinces

Abstract

Abstract: The influence mechanism of resource endowment on urban-rural income gap was systematically analyzed with foreign direct investment as the intermediary variable based on the panel data of 12 western provinces from 2008 to 2018 . The empirical analysis shows that after controlling economic growth, structural optimization, government intervention and other factors, resource endowment does expand the income gap between the urban and rural residents in the western region, proving that the resource curse is in the western region and that foreign direct investment has a significant negative effect on the income gap between urban and rural areas, and plays a partial intermediary role in the impact of resource endowment on the income gap between urban and rural areas.
