Abstract: Altitude gradient is one of the most important factors that determine the distribution patterns of biodiversity, and the relationship of species diversity and altitude gradient has always been a hot topic in ecological research. In this paper, the subalpine meadow in Dahai Mountain, Huize County, Northeastern Yunnan was taken as the research object, and the distribution patterns of biodiversity along the elevation gradient were discussed through field quadrat investigation and statistical analysis. The results showed that the species richness, Shannon-Wiener index and Pielou index of the alpine meadow plant communities in Northeastern Yunnan decreased significantly with the increase of altitude along five altitudes from 3 150 to 3 950 m (P< 0.05), and the species diversity showed a significant downward trend.
