Abstract: Confucian ecological thoughts is one of the important parts of traditional Chinese culture inspiring us to rebuild a harmonious ecological environment. Shangri-la, an image of paradise created in the novel Lost Horizon , is an perfect example that shows what a beautiful, harmonious ecological environment is. The beauty of Shangri-la lies in its attractive natural scenery, the harmonious relationship among people based on the rule of moderation, and the profound cultivation of oneself according to self-restraint.
