Rise and Fall of Mining and Mineral Belief in Dongchuan, Yunnan, Qing Dynasty

Abstract: Mineral God is the industry god of mining, and the rise and fall of mineral God belief reflects the rise and fall of mining industry. In the early period, with the beginning of copper mining in Dongchuan, Yunnan Province, and spontaneously formed the mining-related vein Longshen. After the Qing Dynasty, the copper mine was paid attention to, the Dongchuan copper mine was managed by the government, and the dragon god of the vein was also sealed, which became the worship of the local officials in the Spring and Autumn period, and formed a set of sacrificial ceremonies. The rise and fall of Dongchuan copper mine and the rise and fall of the vein dragon god show a consistent development track, when Dongchuan copper mine declined, as the vein dragon god declined.
