Abstract: During Yuan and Ming dynasties, Yunnan inherited the legacy of Nanzhao’s and Dali’s system——the general circulation of the currency was not copper coins, but ses shells and salt pellets. However, the abundance of copper in Yunnan, the basic raw material for casting coins, made the the copper produced in Yunnan cast money in other piaces or even in Yunnan during the Ming dynasty.
