Abstract: Creating a good life is the starting point and destination of rural revitalization. The field study in the eastern Yunnan reveals that the traditional Confucian ecological ethics of “the unity of heaven and man” and “harmony between man and nature” are well preserved in this area, and the local people still insist on integrating individual survival into the universe and emphasizing “the harmony of things”. The local people still uphold the ecological living style of integrating individual existence into the universe and emphasizing “harmony between things and me”. For the revitalization of rural areas in eastern Yunnan, the code can help reshape the “public order and customs” of the countryside and realize the road of “open, shared and green” revitalization. The key to sustainable and endogenous development of ancient towns is to take the needs of people for a better life as the main consideration, abandon the dichotomy between urban and rural areas, and be wary of the “manipulation” of development dominated by capital logic, and take into account the development of cultural tourism, the protection of the beautiful ecology of eastern Yunnan, and the reshaping of rural customs and traditions of rural communities.
