Abstract: Through investigation and analysis, the findings show that though the character “Suo” is not widely applied in The Analects of Confucius, the types of this structure are abundant, among which, “Suo + adjective” and “Suo + noun” appeared for the first time, and the usage of the structure “Suo + preposition” increased. The character “Yi” has two parts of speech in the structure “Suo +Yi”: verb and preposition. “Suo” structure mainly acted as subject, noun predicate, object or attribute of a sentence. Research on the “Suo” structure in The Analects of Confucius has an important role for understanding its development and evolution as well as grammatical function in the Pre Qin Period.
