Abstract: The spreading outbreaks of new coronavirus pneumonia at home and abroad have a huge impact on the tourism industry in Yunnan Province, especially the cross-border tourism in border areas which has generally stagnated. Under the national demand of consumers for a healthy and high-quality life, it is able, by taking advantages of the “post-epidemic era”, to promote cross-border sports tourism in Yunnan, by doing so, to construct the destiny community with Yunnan’s border countries, to support the creation of healthy living destinations in Yunnan, and to promote the recovery of cross-border tourism and the poverty alleviation in deeply impoverished areas. Therefore, several suggestions are put forward from such aspects as cross-border sports events in the “post-epidemic era”, management system of cross-border sports tourism crisis, national sports tourism, brands of rural sports tourism, support for small and medium-sized travel-related enterprises in border areas, propagation of border sports tourism and, as well, the improvement of infrastructure.
