Abstract: Promoting university students’ core socialist values education must be based on excellent Chinese traditional cultures. The national cultures of filial piety, the core and basis of excellent Chinese traditional cultures identified by all the peoples, is the essential local resources for university students’ core socialist values education, although it the cultures filial piety are local and national cultures. Meanwhile, the core socialist values can be integrated into the education of filial piety through guiding university students’ education of filial piety in university students’ lives and put fullest use of the classroom teaching, social practice, campus cultures and personality formation
