Abstract: The traditional sports culture of cross-border ethnic groups has the prominent social value in the local population community and national strategy due to the particularity of the population and location. The internal law of cross-border communication and interaction of traditional sports culture of cross-border ethnic groups are analyzed in the paper based on the traditional sports culture of cross-border ethnic minorities in China and Myanmar through the methods of literature, field investigation and logical analysis to explore its role in the national "One Belt, One Road" initiative and Yunnan's construction of Windows to South Asia and Southeast Asia from the contemporary perspective.The results show that the cross-border ethnic traditional sports culture exchange between China and Myanmar has opened up a new way for the construction of new rural areas on the border of China, enhanced people-to-people ties, strengthened good-neighborly and friendly relations between the two countries, promoted the development of economy in border areas, and the soft power of border culture was enhanced, thus it has effectively safeguarded national security.
