Total factor productivity growth is a driving analysis of high-quality development in Yunnan Province

Abstract: the key to future economic growth is to improve total factor productivity, which is the driving force of the new normal economic growth. This paper estimates the growth rate of total factor productivity in Yunnan Province from 1990 to 2017 by using Solo residual method, and further calculates the growth rate of total factor productivity and the contribution of factor input to the economic growth of Yunnan Province. The results show that the average growth rate of total factor productivity in Yunnan Province from 1990 to 2017 is only 0.14%, and the average contribution to economic growth is-19.25%. The average contribution of capital input to the economic growth of Yunnan Province is 108.89%, and the average contribution of labor factor input to the economic growth of Yunnan Province is 10.36%. From 1990 to 2017, it shows that Yunnan Province lags behind in technology research and development, capital input is the first factor of economic growth in Yunnan Province, and economic growth in Yunnan Province is a capital-intensive growth mode under extensive economy.
