Abstract: The heroic force of Dian army can be called “a powerful country”. The Yunnan army also entered the history of China's war of resistance against Japan in twentieth Century with its tragic sacrifice and brilliant victory. General Sun Du, who commanded the 58th Army on an anti-Japanese expedition, was a man of both military and cultural integrity, wisdom and courage. He followed Tang Jiyao, Longyun and Chiang Kai-shek successively and held important posts. He was a famous “little Zhuge” in Yunnan Province, but Sun Du was also a controversial and marginalized man.
