Abstract: Based on the ST2 of Chinese Learner English Corpus, the paper studies the use of collocations of three delexical verbs: do, make and take, by the English learners in the senior high school. The results show that the learners tend to use the semantically simple collocations that are often considered as the phrases during the process of teaching. The learners demonstrate some command of the delexicalized usage, but it is not satisfactory, as they frequently use less delexicalized and highly-fixed collocations. The findings have some implications for improving collocation teaching
