Description of Local Customs and Practices in Yunnan Integrated with Ration and Elegance——An Interpretation on Zeng Zhaolun’s The Diary on the Border between China and Burma

Abstract: The Diary on the Border between China and Burma by the famous chemist, Zeng Zhaolun, carries a strong scientific sense. It narrates his investigations and observations in Yunnan during Anti-Japanese War. The article style has a origin of ancient prose in Tongcheng School out of his family’s influence, carries some relic of traditional Chinese travel and surpasses the previous creation with a ubiquitous modern subject. From the viewpoint of a liberalism intellectual, the book expresses a rational thinking about politics, folk customs, and living condition of poor people in rural areas.
