Development of Metal Mining Industry in Chuxiong Region During Qing Dynasty

Abstract: Chuxiong region is rich in mineral resources in history, especially in salt industry. Previous studies mainly focused on salt industry. According to the records in the local chronicles of the Qing Dynasty, the author examined the development of silver, copper, iron, lead and other metal mining industry in Chuxiong region of the Qing Dynasty. The development of mining resources has had a positive impact on the development of Chuxiong local economy. The development of silver mines has played a great role in the taxation and financial transformation in Chuxiong region,and the development of copper mines has also contributed greatly to national and local financial revenues. How to straighten out the relationship between mining development and finance is of great importance, the key is to make a reasonable and overall plan and develop mineral resources appropriately. On the contrary, it will not only lead to the increasing financial distress of the local government, but also affect people's life and social stability.
