Abstract: The traditional ancestor worship which went through three stages: the nobles’ worship, scholar-officials worship and the civilians’ worship, has gradually disappeared in most areas. In modern society, ancestor worship was resumed and ancestral temples were restored in the Pearl River Delta. It was proposed that the protection of ancestral temples and environment should be combined together, the power of clan should be valued and the civil power and its participation should be guided officially into full play.
