National Relations and National Policies in Wuximan Area and Southwest Frontier Development in Song Dynasty

Abstract: Xi Man Cong Xiao is a local chorography of Wuximan area in the Southern Song Dynasty, which preserves precious extensive historical materials of the local minority society. Its records of minority appellation, relations of the Han nationality and the minority nationalities in economic, political and cultural life show the effect of the southwest border area development in Song Dynasties and reflect a relatively harmonious and stable situation of various nationalities in the region. This national relations affected by many national policies of Song Dynasty, like economic control, border protection and rule of law cultivation, shows a positive and occasionally turbulent situation. The change of national relations and national policies in the region are jointly determined by severe national defense situation faced by Song Dynasty, social development status of Wuximan area and other factors.
