摘要/Abstract

摘要： 西南联大的公共外语教育理念是通识教育与专识教育并重。在通专兼顾理念的指导下,联大的公共外语课程设置、师资队伍建设、课外实践活动、入学和考试等制度呈现多层次、立体性和全方位的特色。通专兼顾是联大公共外语教育的宝贵经验,对于破解当前通用英语(EGP)与专用英语(ESP)之争,推动当今中国高校的大学英语教学改革具有借鉴和启示作用。

Abstract: Foreign language education for non-English majors in the National Southwest Associated University (NSAU) is marked by a balance between general and specialist education. And this characteristic is illustrated in the philosophy, curriculum, teaching staff, extracurricular activities and relevant system of this Chinese university in war and revolution. Such successful practice of NSAU is a precious reference to the reform of foreign language education in the universities of contemporary China, where ways to balance EGP and ESP teaching is a heated discussion.
