Abstract: The opera art of Quanzhou, a cultural and artistic ancient capital, derived from folk, later became popular in royal palace, finally returned to folk. It inherited and developed the essence of Chinese ethnic music and dancing art. The Liyuan opera and the living fossil Nanyin are treasures not only to Quanzhou, but also to non-material cultural heritage. The founder of Han-Tang Yuefu (a music organization), Chen Mei'e, whose ancestral home was in Quanzhou, Fujian province, later moved with his grandparents to Taiwan. With closer distance,Chen Mei'e became familiar with her hometown and got a touch with historical and indigenous Liyuan music and dance as well as Nanyin. As a result, Chen Mei'e applied what she learned to establishing Han-Tang Yuefu in Taipei after her retirement. The works of Han-Tang Yuefu were put on all over the world, which not only provided an access to the world to understand the Liyuan, Nanyin and Quanzhou, but also deepened the communication between mainland and Taiwan. Han-Tang Yuefu has hewed out a new path for the inheritance and development of traditional art. Chen Mei's is of vital importance to the establishment and development of Han-Tang Yuefu.
